A safe checklist before a garage door repair callback
A short, accurate symptom description is more useful than guessing which part failed. Avoid touching springs or loose cables.
Observe only what is safe
- Is the door stuck open, stuck closed, crooked, heavy, noisy, or reversing?
- Is there a visible gap in the spring above the door?
- Are cables slack, rollers outside the track, or panels visibly bent?
- Does the opener hum, click, blink, or fail after a power event?
- Are sensor lights on, off, or flashing?
- Is a vehicle trapped, and is there another safe entry to the garage?
Do not loosen hardware, touch a spring, pull a loose cable, or force a crooked door. Take photos only from a safe position.
